A schedule was created in OOo on a Windows computer and saved. The file
was sent to me. When I open the file on my Linux computer (using the
standard distribution version of OOo), I see the file render correctly,
and then OOo immediately crashes. If I allow OOo to recover the file,
OOo will crash and repeat. Just cancel the recovery and life goes on.

Which Distribution do you use?

Standard version running on 64-bit Fedora 9. I use the JRE downloaded with it...

Which version number of OpenOffice.org?

Latest version 3.0

I installed KOffice, and then used KWord to open the file; no problem.
I used KWord to write the file, and then I tried to open that in Writer,
OOo crashed.

I suspect that the problem is with my system rather than with OOo....
Can someone download and test this file.

If someone else verifies that it really crashes, OOo, then I will open
an issue against the file.

I can open this file without any problems in the vanilla version 3.0.
I can also open it in the newest version of Debian/experimental.

So please fill an issue against your distribution.

Another person with my version of Linux, also using the vanilla version, was able to open the file with no problems.

Turns out, I have trouble even pasting the raw text as text into an OOo document. My first guess was that it was related to the installed grammar checker, so I removed the grammar check plug-in. I was wrong.

What I should do, is wipe and re-install.

Kind Regards

Mechtilde

Are you running Gnome or KDE? It could be related to the desktop and not OOo if you are having issues pasting. Have you tried pasting in other applications? How about middle mouse button paste? Is that working?

I have yet to find a problem with 3.0 on F8 and F7.
