Hello Jen,

just writing to encourage you to use OOo 3.0. Using also a PPC PowerBook G4 (with 768MB ram) with OS X 10.4.11 and very comfortable with Writer and Calc. Not at all slower then M$ Office. Upgrading the memory of your PB will help, of course. And not just in regard of OOo.

1. Could someone tell me how to delete OpenOffice (the version I have now) and X11 from my computer? (I am new to Macs, the one I have now I bought used from a friend so I have no office programs, or instruction manuals).
I would _not_ recommend to delete X11. It will/might be needed for other programs.

2. Open office, once downloaded doesn't expire like a trial period would, does it? My guess is I deleted something when I was clearing off my desktop
(where is where everything I download sits)
Not at all. It's free and won't expire.

3. Could you please send me a link to a OOo 3.0 download site?
Just went to http://www.openoffice.org/ .
The second option says "I want to download OpenOffice.org".
Clicking on it I get the option to download OOo 3.0.0 for Mac OSX PPC.
After downloading you should try to install the program in your Application folder.

As pointed out you could also d/l OOo 3.0.1 RC2 (RC for release candidate). You had the link as citation in your post:

I advise you to install the OOo 3.0.1 RC2 that fixes some bugs from the
3.0.0 (the first to work natively on Mac, without X11).

look for the PowerPC further down the list, US-english is the one without
language specification:
