Here is a pet peeve;
I know I mess up sometimes and send these email as HTML.
OK a lot of times;
BUT, I was wondering why some people have ALL of their
emails to this list asking for a return receipt. This
person's emails are all asking for the return receipt.
Now here is a question about return receipts:
Will these receipts got to the list server or to the
person asking for them?
Sometimes, my mind wonders is some MS employee is reading
this list and collecting our email addresses and holding
them for some nasty action against us. Even though the
use of our addresses for an action against up is not legal,
collection of these addresses are in a legal gray area.
So, could we all stop requesting return receipts, and
I will try to keep my email system sending emails to this
list as non-HTML versions. I need HTML options turned on
for the insert special character options.
Thanks much.

Hi Henri & Michael,
Admonishment accepted and noted. Apparent subject change is not applicable as I deliberately chose that
sequence of emailed responses as an example. When I download emails from this forum I receive every email
that is generated relative to each original cry for help including my own. Hence, I have seen complaints
accompanied by requests for "unsubscription" resulting from the bombardment of emails. It is also
my complaint but I do not see "unsubscribing" as a cure except on a personal basis. It may be a
reason why some users do not register and receive a "direct" response. As I see it the solution is:
1. Set up a proper web-site based users forum still requiring registration and
requiring moderation
2. configure the current system to download the latest ONLY of each email
subject inclusive of responses received.
For example, in my latest download of emails (headers only) there were several
emails for each subject so before downloading the content I deleted what I hope
is the excess being earlier timed (received) emails with the same subject
headers. In doing so there is a danger that I have lost some interesting
information.

A request to the administrators of [email protected]: Is it possible
for
you to set up the delivery system so that it only delivers the latest
version of each email instead of multiple copies of the original request
for
help with each subsequent request? It is no wonder that users want to
unsubscribe.

And it is fixed in 3.0.1:

Yes... fine, but where is ver 3.0.1 ?????????
At http://www.openoffice.org/
Wistert, a poster can easily determine just how much or how little of
previous posts are to be included in his or her own, by snipping out less
relevant parts as I have done above. And while I know this is to open a
particularly Laocoonian can of worms, I take the liberty of pointing out
that bottom posting is the most commonly used method employed for responses
on this particular list....
