Came this utterance fomulated by Witstert to my mailbox:
A request to the administrators of [email protected]: Is it
possible for you to set up the delivery system so that it only
delivers the latest version of each email instead of multiple copies
of the original request for help with each subsequent request? It is
no wonder that users want to unsubscribe.
What exactly are you getting? From your post it sounds like you are
getting every email resent seperately in a thread every time a new email
is added to that thread. I don't get that, nor have i ever got that. We
have periodically had hiccups where duplicates come through but i havent
had more than one or two of those lately.
It sounds to me that he is unhappy with the fact that some posters quote the entirety of each
message in the thread, even when only saying "Me Too!" He may be unaware that removing the
detritus is beyond the ability of any mailing list or administrator.
And a request to you:
1. If you change the topic, change the subject.
2. If you are creating a new topic don't do it as a reply to previous
posts, it messes with threading and your post may be ignored by people
ignoring the thread.
3. Trim the information out of the original emails that no longer
applies.
See Above.
4. Intersperse your answers just below the relevant points you are
replying to as per the mailing list guidelines. Don't reply at the top
jeopardy style.
All of which seems to indicate that he is new to mailing lists or has never had the proper etiquette
pointed out to him. Hopefully he (and many others -;-) ) will learn from your clear and concise
instruction.
