Hi Henri & Michael,
Admonishment accepted and noted. Apparent subject change is not applicable as I deliberately chose that
sequence of emailed responses as an example. When I download emails from this forum I receive every email
that is generated relative to each original cry for help including my own. Hence, I have seen complaints
accompanied by requests for "unsubscription" resulting from the bombardment of emails. It is also
my complaint but I do not see "unsubscribing" as a cure except on a personal basis. It may be a
reason why some users do not register and receive a "direct" response. As I see it the solution is:
A silly question, but when you download your email, you do delete
downloaded mail from your mail (pop3??) server? Otherwise you will get
lots of repeated copies. Or, less likely, your mail server has some sort
of problem and is replicating mail (this /can/ happen due to a weakness
in smtp, but is /very/ unusual)
As nobody else on the list admits to suffering from this malaise, it
looks to me like something to do with the way you handle mail rather
than a problem with the list itself..
1. Set up a proper web-site based users forum still requiring registration and
requiring moderation
Thanks but no thanks. Web forums (fora?) are IMO a ghastly invention,
and usually quite unusable (hastily dons flak jacket :-) Each to their
own).
You do know about the digest version, and that gmane carries these lists
as usenet groups?
