Problem 2. You say that you can open a Calc document, but you can not
edit the document. Did I understand this correctly? I am not sure
what would cause that. Does the document indicate that you are
opening it "read-only"?
Another cause of being unable to edit a calc file could be attempting
to edit it when it is opened directly as an attachment to an email.
This happened to a colleague of mine at work just yesterday. He
received a calc spreadsheet in an email, opened it directly and
complained he could not edit it. I had him save to desktop and open
it. He was then able to edit it with out problem.
And for all those who are going to chime in saying that that doesn't
happen to them and that's incorrect, I am not stating that it always
works that way, only that on some systems it will. It something to try.
Very interesting. Yes, indeed, some systems will do this. I frequently
see this on a Windows computer that I use. All email attachments are
opened read-only. Very astute!
