I just recently downloaded "Open Office" with the intention, amongst

Thank you.
Dr. M. F. Lenc
When you double-click on the downloaded installation file, it will start
the installation process. Partway through there's a dialog about whether
you want to use OOo as the program for opening MS Office filetypes. If
you accept that, double-clicking on a file of one of these types will
open the file in the appropriate part of OOo (Impress for PowerPoint,
etc.).

I haven't installed OOo on any MSO infected machines recently, so can
someone confirm if 3.0.x still offers this file association option or not.
Thanks
Dave
I've done 3 installs and don't recall seeing that option.
Every time a do a new install of OpenOffice.org 2.x and 3.x.x, I
have been asked if I want to have the file associations.
Look in
Tools > Options > Load/Save > Microsoft Office
check if you want to Load or Save MS files with OpenOffice.org
If you want to automaticaly load MS's files into OOo,
the check the "L" boxes. If you want to save the files in
MS file formats, check the "S" boxes.
It is as easy as that.
