I have a new HP computer and printer. I have used OpenOffice to type a letter
to someone and when I print the letter out all the copy has is two pages of
zeros. What can I do to fix this, I compose a lot of letters and if I can't
print copies to send this program is no good for me. Please help! Thank you!
Key question--are you using Windows (and which variant)? And which
version of OpenOffice.org are you using?
Since it appears your message was composed in Outlook Express, I'll
presume you are using Windows XP (what would ship with a new Windows
computer). Key issue--can you print anything useful from *any*
application? If the answer to that is no, then the problem is with
Windows and the printer driver you have installed.
To test that out, fire up WordPad (a very simple word processor that
ships with Windows--you find it on the Start menu under Accessories) and
send that out to print. If that produces garbage, then the issue would
be with the printer driver you have installed under Windows--get that
fixed, and OpenOffice.org will print.
Presuming that's the problem, which HP printer do you have? Did you
install a printer driver from the CD that shipped with the printer? And
which printer does OpenOffice.org *say* it is going to be printing to
when you do a File->Print?
