I tried it on Windows and on Linux (Ubuntu, but heavily modified):
When opening the generated .doc with OpenOffice the execution enters

Well, I tried doing as you asked using Windows XP / OOo 3.1 m4
development build.
When opening the .doc file it does not enter an endless loop, it crashes
OO.o outright. It does generate a crash report in this case then.
If you want to open an issue for this and post back the Issue number I
would be happy to attach the crash report number to the report.
