Can 2.4.1 open 3.0.1 files? Please say it can!
As SP pointed out, yes you can - I've done this several times. Whether it will fix the issue is probably another story... 1. Backup your important documents and ~/.openoffice... folders! 2. System|Administration|Synaptic...|search for 'openoffice' and mark any listed as 3.0.1-x for 'Complete Removal', then click the 'Apply' button. 3. Click Settings|Repositories|Third-Party Software|and uncheck the ppa.launchpad.net/openoffice repositories. Click 'Close'. 4. Click the 'Reload' button to update your repositories. 5. Now search again for openoffice but instead use openoffice.org & mark for install, as a minimum: openoffice.org, openoffice.org-common, openoffice.org-evolution (don't as why, just do it), openoffice.org-gnome. That will install the bulk & then you can go back and install any additional help, language, spell, etc., that you need. If you need additional help then send me a note off-list. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [email protected] For additional commands, e-mail: [email protected]
