I have the Eee PC 900 (Swedish edition) and I installed Mandriva Linux Free 2009.1 on it, which means that I now have OpenOffice.org 3.0.1. It runs surprisngliy fast and smooth, compared to OpenOffice.org 2.4.1 on Eeeubuntu 8.10 which was slow and annoying on that very same machine. With Ubuntu, Mandriva etc, it's possible to install parts of OpenOffice.org as you wich by using the package manager, but I am not sure if everything will work properly if you omitt some parts. For instance if you don't install Calc, some parts of Writer won't work, I would guess calculating in tables and things like that. But I guess you could live without Math and some other stuff, even if it won't mean any bigger difference in total amount of installed bytes.
