Gary,
Are you asking about opening Excel files with OpenOffice.org? If so
select Tools --> Load Save --> Microsoft Office and put check marks in
the blocks.

before I open the program, the system recognized it must use Excel to run the

I have noticed that this does not happen in Open Office. Can I somehow assign
a way to have this happen, or is that not available through Open Office.
