Hello List

Using OOo3.0.1. on a Debian Squeeze box, there are 2 issues I'm interested in sorting out:

(1) I have a few quite long documents (about 60-odd pages) which when I used to open these up in previous versions of OOo Writer, the cursor used to take me to the place in the document where I had last worked. With this release however, when I open a document the the cursor defaults to the start of the document and not the place where I last worked. I then have to scroll through all of the pages to continue adding text from where I last left off.

How do I set it up so that when I open a document it defaults to opening it at the place I last worked on - i.e. the end of the document?

(2) I have OOo Writer set to save work every 10 minutes. However, when it does save larger documents, the application becomes unusable for the few seconds it takes to save (the blue line running from left to right at the bottom of the frame), especially on larger documents. It also tends to return the page to the place where the cursor is, even if that is several pages away from where one might be currently focusing (i.e. have scrolled through some pages without moving the cursor) once the saving process is finished.

How do I set it up so that OOo Writer can do a background save that does not interrupt my work whilst it is saving and that the saving process doesn't return me to the page where the cursor is even when that page does not have focus - i.e. is not the page I am looking at at the time of the background save?

Under Tools/ Options/ General/ Memory I have allocated 33MB for Graphics cache (use for OOo) and 5.6MB memory per object.

I hope that my queries were clearly worded and that people understand what I am getting at. I'm not sure if I am using the correct terminology, please ask me to clarify if need's be.

Many thanks for any suggestions.

AG
