I finally managed to solve this, by first taking out the old path and
rebooting the machine. My suspicion was that the quickloader preloads
those paths, and that that's why the old path appeared sticky to me. In
any case, it is solved now.

recently changed a directory, namely the location of the template
directory. I changed the paths under options, so it is set correctly,
yet, when I try to launch a new file with a template, i first starts
looking for the file under the old path which has long since been
deleted.
I do not understand precisely what you mean here. How does it start
looking for the file under the old path?
Do you start File|New|Templates and Document ...?
So there must be some other place besides the Options where it
maintains a record of the paths? What is it?
You can have a look in your user data, either in
\documents and settings\application data\
or in
.opt/
then
OpenOffice.org/3/user/template
maybe there is something to find?

Cor
