I am creating a booklet (well, a series of booklets, actually) that will be formatted with text on the right-hand pages, and some sort of graph or picture or quote or table or... on the left hand page. How do I do that elegantly?

If you are happy to lay out the pages manually, this is fairly easy to achieve just using manual page breaks where necessary. It gets more difficult if you want the text to flow naturally between the rectos even when you modify that text. But you can do this by creating a frame on each recto to contain the text - it can be the same size as the text area - and then linking the frames. To do this, either use the Link Frames button in the Frame toolbar, or else the "Previous link" and "Next link" fields on the Options tab of the Frame dialogue. Once you have linked your frames appropriately, text will flow naturally between them.

I trust this helps.
