First verify if the above works for your user account. Second have a
look at these:

Answer: easiest way is to add them to follow the 'Manually' section in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Fonts#Manually. Don't forget to run 'sudo
fc-cache -f -v'.

The same method used for Ubuntu will work for Debian.
