Are there any issues when upgrading to Windows 7

Hello Dave,

The short answer is No - caveat, I've only been testing OO.o 3.1.1 and 3.2 (dev builds) so can't say about any earlier releases.

OO.o 3.1.1 does not "officially" support Win 7 but there is TTBOMK no open issues regarding OO.o functionality.

OO.o 3.2 will be the "Official" supported on Win 7 release.

Under 3.1.1 OO.o just doesn't know how to make use of the newest features in the Windows file manager, So - no support for the "library" view vs "hard path" view.
3.2 adds some, but by all means not all, of that.

Live preview is the most notable missing feature - if you don't have MSO 2007 you won't see it (unless you have .odt files associated with WordPad) If you do have MSO 2007 then Writer, Calc and Impress files will be displayed in the "Live Preview" pane in the Windows manager and in Open File dialogs within OO.o (you must use OS dialogs of course).

*note* there was an issue regarding "lost" files in the library view, this appears to be fixed, I think by a recent upgrade from MS. Lost means they would be counted in a "library" catalog but when you drilled down the actual files entry would be missing - if you instead drilled down to the "hard path" then the files are listed.

I think there may be an open issue regarding SAMBA shares also...but don't know for sure with out going and searching the Issue tracker again. Again, maybe is more MS then OO.o.

The Active X control for IE8 is totally broken - but then I think it always has been.

The Firefox OO.o support works fine. (Firefox is now an option for your browser from MS actually [for OEM's]). Well, I believe that is true, but could be wrong.

Win 7 does not supply an email client (Outlook express is finally on it's death bed). I've been running Thunderbird 3 beta w/Lightning without a glitch.

HTH

Drew
