Are there any issues when upgrading to Windows 7

Hello Dave,

<snip>
I think there may be an open issue regarding SAMBA shares also...but don't know for sure with out going and searching the Issue tracker again. Again, maybe is more MS then OO.o.

Drew, are you saying that if I upgrade my 32-bit Vista on my 64-bit
laptop to Win7 64 bit; there may be trouble seeing my Linux-box's
SAMBA share drives?

I hate what Vista does on my laptop, but I want to go to Win7-64bit
on this dual-core 64-bit compatible laptop. They shipped it with
32bit Vista and it is "bad" for everything including OOo.

I want to do the same with my AMD64 laptop that has 32bit XP/Pro.
Linux does not support all of the onboard features of that laptop,
so I am stuck with MS's products for now.

I have heard with Win7RC that OOo worked well, but now that the
package is on sale, I wonder if it is working properly with those
people who upgraded/installed the Win7 64 bit "upgrade" for Vista
Home/pre? That is what I want to know. Is there any troubles
with OOo (or any other software/services) with 64bit Win7...

Hi Tim,

Actually I should have added a second caveat for that.

I have tested only on 32 bit - there are from time to time issues with 64bit window platforms (Vista and one now for Win 7 IIRC) and OO.o. Most of this has to do with the fact, IMO, that there is no 64bit OO.o for windows as there is for Linux. (It's much more work to move to 64bit under Windows then Linux)

For instance any wizard in OO.o that uses Java will need a 32bit version of Java installed, if you have the 64bit version - bad news.

Ok - here is a link that will list all open issues tagged as Windows 7
