Is there a 64 bit OOo version for Windows in the works?
Can't say for sure - I suppose there is but there hasn't been any
priority set to it that I've seen.
I will need to stick to a version of Windows, Win7
if it is as good as it is advertised, instead of using Vista.
We each make decisions - but I wouldn't let it stop me if I wanted that
64bit OS. There are many 64bit windows users, it's only in a few cases
(it appears to me) that you even need do anything special and in all
those, that I know of, it is just that - just the need to mind a
particular setting or load a particular support file.
I have an HP AMD64bit desktop, I run Ubuntu 64bit on it and yes I have
some issues with sound and video no matter what.
Joyce's PC here is a Compaq Intel32bit desktop, runs Ubuntu 32bit and
yes I have some issues with her sound and video from time to time -
maybe it's the sys admin :>(
We have an HP 110 Mi (Atom) net-book - this has Linux pre-installed and
there is no glitch to be found with video or audio anywhere at this
point (~4 months).
Finally - I only run 64bit because I want to use virtualization in order
to run multiple desktop/os combos for testing purposes, with database
server(s) running back on the host. It is hard to see real advantages to
going 64bit for Windows or Linux desktops in most cases.
Best wishes,
Drew
