Jean,
The icon that you are seeing is the installation program. Once this is
run, I am assuming your using Windows, the programs are installed and a
the quick start is placed on the desktop. After installation you need
to reboot. From then on use the quick start to launch OpenOffice.org.
There should be no reason you can not delete the installation files at
any point. Instead of using the "Delete" button, right click on the
installation icon, and select "Delete" from the dropdown menu.
