I've reviewed that bug info to jog my memory and I don't think that quite applies - I'm all ODF here no Excel xml involved at all. On the other hand, changing the preference to ODF 1.0/1.1 and sending that file to Open Office 3.0.0 on OSX 'fixed' the problem - sum formulas displayed fine. Swapping back to ODF 1.2 made the problem reappear. To sum up - opening an ODF 1.2 seems broken in O.O. 3.0.0 Beta on OSX. I haven't created a new bug report - it's an old version after all.
