Interesting... I installed KDE on top of a gnome install (Ubuntu 9.10) to test a friend's system and OOo seemed to work. Flushed out KDE as I tend to view KDE as a bloat. In any event, I'll be happy to try with a test system tomorrow it you'd like. I do know in the past that OOo and KDE have had issues. You mention that you have both OOo and (U)OOo installed - can you provide information regarding the versions of both, and if you have separate ~/.openoffice.org folders for each? Also please clarify when you say "Only in a pure (untainted) Ubuntu with Gnome environment started from an USB-Stick it seems to work". What does that mean? Does OOo work it properly installed on a drive?
