Can anybody reproduce this?
Under windows and Ubuntu from a stick this is no issue only under
KDE I get this problem.
By that I assume that it works without issue in a Gnome desktop? Is that
correct?
Surprisingly not. I'm running Kubuntu and if I add the Gnome environment to
the installation and am running Gnome it still doesn't work.
Only in a pure (untainted) Ubuntu with Gnome environment started from an USB-
Stick it seems to work.
Interesting... I installed KDE on top of a gnome install (Ubuntu 9.10)
to test a friend's system and OOo seemed to work. Flushed out KDE as I
tend to view KDE as a bloat. In any event, I'll be happy to try with a
test system tomorrow it you'd like.
I do know in the past that OOo and KDE have had issues. You mention that
you have both OOo and (U)OOo installed - can you provide information
regarding the versions of both, and if you have separate
~/.openoffice.org folders for each? Also please clarify when you say
"Only in a pure (untainted) Ubuntu with Gnome environment started from
an USB-Stick it seems to work". What does that mean? Does OOo work it
properly installed on a drive?
Thanks.
I remember that 9.04 installed with a modified version of OOo.
I had some trouble (as a new Linux user) to get 9.04 to install
3.1.x a few weeks before 9.10 came out. Updating 9.04 to 9.10
worked fine and I had no trouble with OOo after the upgrade.
I use Gnome, but have the KDE as an optional desktop. Both seems
to work fine for me.
