In order to minimize incompatibilities with old libraries, config files etc. I'm trying this from live versions of the distributions booted from an USB-Stick. So in Kubuntu (KDE) 9.10 it doesn't work in Ubuntu (Gnome) 9.10 it does work on Windows with OOPortable it also works. Additionally I tried the official OOo Version from openoffice.org in Kubuntu but this also did not work. I also wanted to compile from source but this stopped with some strange error I do not understand. (see below) I'm currently downloading OpenSuse to try there. Maybe this will help to zero in on this strange bug.
