I have to say that:

a) I also have noticed a surprising number of mails on the list from people who
say they can't use the OOo suite, which Barbara, particularly, answers time and
again with patience bordering on the pathological or more likely the angelic :)

b) Kevin has provided a hypothesis about why this might be which bears
investigation, and suggested a solution. I must admit I have sometimes
wondered whether all these messages are serious, or whether there is some
ulterior motive behind them that I haven't been able to identify, but then I'm
paranoid.

c) His suggestion has been met with perhaps more destructive criticism than it
deserves, and no alternative hypotheses have been presented.

d) Twayne typed his comment whilst so tired that his fingers moved, perhaps, a
little faster than his brain and resulted in his being, perhaps, a little more
brutal than we are used to or his generous nature would normally allow him to
be :)

e) Kevin has now, with the skill of an expert surgeon, or maybe a butcher,
gently and generously pointed out to Twayne the social deficiencies of his
message :)

Now I think we're all agreed that, so long after the event, the name is
unlikely to be changed again. We even write OOo - or some of us OO.o - in our
messages. I was going to suggest as a compromise that tptb make it a little
clearer on the home page that it is a downloadable program and not a cloud
computing service, but having looked at the home page I can't see how they can
make it much clearer. So here's another suggestion.

Why don't we ask Twayne and Kevin to declare a truce, and in future ask those
people who send a message to the list saying that they can't use OOo what it
was that they were expecting, at the same time as we try to help? Maybe that
way we can find out whether Kevin's hypothesis is right, or find out what it is
that these potential users are running up against, and take appropriate
measures to solve the problem(s) that come to light.

Just my 2c
