The problem occurs in both my Linux and Windows versions.

steps to reproduce:
1. select cell C11
2. type =sum(
3. select B3 to B9 with the mouse
4. Press return
5. Aug 17, 1916 is displayed but $6,074.52 was expected
I get $6074.52 format, not date.
