    Hello everyone !

The following website (in frensh) is currenty the first result by Google for the keywords "open office download" :
http://www.openoffice-fr.net/

Good return on their advertising budget.

After download, it ask for a key that can be obtained "for free" by sending a sms to a given phone number.

Well - couldn't be more obvious that they are going to charge you - with exact pricing: If in Fr - 3.98 Euro + what I assume is a connect fee for the SMS service, ( I can't read much French )
If in De - 4 Euro
...other places, different prices, but within a Euro of those.

I don't know what is a Euro today, 15 USD...that would be a bit pricey

I didn't tried, but I suspect a fishing with money stealing (even if at the end, the correct OpenOffice is installed).

Correct Open Office? - well, you will get their program, which is compiled from the OpenOffice.org sources, but the name is 'Open Office', not OpenOffice.org (2 words, no .org)

They offer actual Free supplemental material - examples, macros, gallery items and manuals. The problem is after looking inside the zip files all the material is terribly dated, much going back to 2005 and some even further back. The manuals are version 2.0, the macros are even older and I doubt would work reliably.

You know if they would update the supplemental stuff - it wouldn't be half bad...you can get the application, the manuals, a small gallery, some macros, and exercises all from a single web page. Wow - how did they do that.

So if they actually kept up with that add-on stuff - I don't know is the convenience of getting it all, in one place, worth 4 Euro? (5.55 USD)

Is it a GPL violation ?
TTBOMK - no. A little smarmy perhaps..well maybe a bit more then a little.

Is there something to do against ?

Don't buy it!
