Hi AG
I am also following the same method which you are talking about. My problem
is that when completing the document, I save in html format or xml format,
instead of showing math equation or coding of math, it is showing nothing.
According to the open office, it should show math equation and in code of
xml it should show math equation with mathml tags.
Thanks

I completed my M.Sc thesis last year in OOo Writer, which had a lot of
mathematical formulae in the body of the text. I used the route

     Insert / Formula

and a section at the bottom of the page opens up to write out the
required formula. Once you are happy with the lay-out (which is just a
way of laying out the text according to specific positions and can
easily be learned or looked up) then just mouse back into the main body
of the text and then you can carry on typing words.

Aside from the above, perhaps you can share what problems you are
experiencing when you say that the standard approach "doesn't work" for
you. What does that actually mean?
