These are my steps: 1. First I did what you suggested, selected my paragraph and Format > Default Formatting which gave me Indent *Before text* 1.27cm and *First Line* -0.64cm 2. Format > Paragraph and changed Indent *Before text* 2.00cm and *First Line* -0.13cm This changed the selected para to what I wanted the formatting to be. 3. F11 > double click Default and at this point the para formatting changes to *Before text* 1.27cm and *First Line* -0.64cm which is not what I want. So I must be telling it to change to the Default rather than me wanting to cahnge the default style if you know what I mean. Adam
