When you talk about OOo being too heavy for your Win98 system, what do
you mean? Was the system just too slow for it, or did it have to spend
a lot of time reading/writing swap memory to/from the drive?

Yes, too slow and not responsive at all. After entering a simple value in
a cell and hitting Enter I had to wait for a couple of seconds for
something to happen. I switched back to OpenOffice.org 1.1.5 which was a
lot more responsive.
I don't remember right now if it was swapping a lot, but it was certainly
VERY slow.
