I'm sorry (Never a good way to start.) This is my first post on this list, and my last on this topic, If you would like to engage me on this, let's take it off the list.

America is meant to be the greatest democracy in the world,

Bull Sh*t, The united states of America is a Republic. Theoretically led by those wiser than us. (More BS.)

 you need to
educate the American people about what is going on, and give good for / against arguments.

Most Americans can't think past their TV's. (I am American, BTW.)

Then get them to lobby senators,

I also work allot with different Non-profits, youth groups, and other volunteer organizations. It is getting next to impossible to get anyone to do anything.

I read somewhere
that America has slipped down the league for programming, is it any wonder when thanks to software patents, programmer have to spend more time worrying if what they have written is patented by someone and workign round it, than actually getting on with the actual programming

Never give up the fight, just educate the masses, and get them on your side, even tell them history of computing, such as who really first created the GUI (Xerox), Not Apple, and Not Microsoft.

Most Americans don't even know what a GUI is. Most Americans can barely use a computer, and a large minority actively fight against using any "technology". (I understand what Tech is, I am just expressing their positions.) I know this as I work with all of these classes of people every day. From the small minority that do use, know and love tech, to those that can't stand to even use an ATM.

Regarding judges, to have a fair and just judicial system, you need a judge to be impartial, i.e neutral, and he / she needs to bese judgements on the evidence given, yes it's difficult and we have seen this in the Michal Jackson trial, you have to put the superstar status to one side and focus on the person on trial, and the evidence given, if this does not happen how can you get a fair trial, If this is not happening, then the US people need to know about it, and be told that their system is going wrong,

This is what set me off. BS. I and others have been trying to explain this very fact for YEARS, decades even. The American judicial system has been corrupt for Many years. There is NO such thing as a fair trial. Any one who believes otherwise is naive and has never seen a real trial. (That or they are part of the establishment.) I personally have seen it happen, First hand, right up close and personal. I watched the Federal prosecutors spend over $1,000,000 to investigate and prosecute a man for a crime he did not commit. His "Real Crime" He tried as hard as he could to to do just what you said. He was trying to educate Americans to their rights, and what the real role and limitations of Government are supposed to be. (which they stomp on daily.) After spending years investigating him, and finding nothing, they finally fabricate a case. The first indication that he was in trouble came when they took away his livelihood and his money, therefore his ability to mount a real defense. Then, in a very warped trial in which the corrupt judge with a single stroke, destroyed the defense's carefully built defense. Fair trial my a$$.

Snip again.

regardless of the UN. Something odd is happening, in the world and it's very dangerous, the average person on the street may not like it, but they need to be told, ann need to be educated to ask WHY, and write to senators, the president and ask WHY,

Most Americans don't even care.

There is more to the issue than just patents, it seems there are a whole raft of issues that are being fudged to keep someone somewhere happy, at the end of the day its YOUR children and their CHILDRENS children who will suffer, and given the number of gender bending chemicals being relesed n to the food system, you may not actually get grandchildren because of fertility problems,

Agreed, But patents are the issue that was raised.

Start to stand up for what is right, use the first amendment to voice you opinions, No one in the US can stop you doing that.

Wanna bet? See the above. I know at least several people who where destroyed doing just that.

Sorry for the long essay which may seem sligtly off at a tangent to the original topic, but the above points all seem to be related to the judges issue.

Perhaps.

Paul

Interesting, My name also.

Is there any way to stop it? Would some judge have to say no and then it would have to work its way up to the supreme court?
No. There is no way to stop it at this point. What it would take is a Microsoft grade company pushing the issue, or for some large majority of the American people to be outraged. Both have a equally high probability. Even then, How many Americans are aware of the Patriot act, and it's evil, yet it still passes, perhaps twice. How many people were buffaloed into believing that Gulf 2 was correct? The American people have become neutralized. You will get no useful help there. Very sad...
