I'm not sure which colours you mean here. Do you mean text colours, highlight colours, or background colours - or something else?
This is just a guess, but go to Tools | Options... | OpenOffice.org Writer | Print | Contents. You will need to have Background ticked in order to export backgrounds, and to have "Print black" not ticked in order to export text colours.
