Must be. It is the only printer I have installed. (I do own two other Laserjets on the same network, but it is highly unlikely I will ever need to print to them from the laptop.) > First you say Unbuntu and now you are talking about Windows. Both are on the home ethernet, as well as the Laserjet 5SiMx. > The Generic printer is what OOo calls the default. Thus if you have > setup the printer correctly is should just work under 1.1.x. Don't know where it's sending the data, but it ain't to the printer. All other applications on the laptop print to it just fine. > I think if you want fine control in OOo for your printer, you will have > to set it up using spadmin. OK, great suggestion! I didn't know about spadmin. First, I googled on spadmin because I had no idea where it was (not listed in the Ubuntu menus). Once I figured out I had to launch it from a command line (supportforum.sun.com), I did so. Looked pretty good from what I could see. Unfortuantely, as soon as I clicked on any of the buttons a new window would pop up for a couple seconds, then the whole thing would just disappear. Not exactly stable. :( > Now for some good news, OOo2.0 will recognize the default printer > correctly regardless of the OS. I'm not fond of beta software. Does anyone know approximately when the final will be released? My take is that it is imminent. Maybe I can get away with waiting. It would be highly inconvenient, though. Thanks for the suggestion. Too bad about spadmin. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
