       You have stated the exact problem: the difference if the screen 
sizes. I have the very same problem: desktop with 1024x768 display, and 
laptop with 800x600 display. I have accepted it as normal.
     However, here is something that you could experiment with a little. 
At the bottom of the OOo window are several "boxes". The first one 
shows "100%". Double click it to open a context menu. The bottom choice 
of this menu is Variable. Try some of the other choices first to see 
what they will do. If one of them will make the character sizes the 
same for the two screens, fine. If not, change the amount in the 
Variable choice to make the character sizes as close as possible.
