Its not a large spreadsheet, however I've always found that if the file is in the OOo format (either .sxc or .ods ) the speed is a little better since it doesn't need to do the row/col width adjusting.
For me (although not required for starting OOo), I've always turned off 'show icons in menu' which seems to speed things up a little. There are some speed advantages with version 2.0 coming up, but then the interface is more graphical so there are tradeoff's. /paul On 7/1/05, Ennio-Sr <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi all, > I'm under the impression that OOo is quite slow loading a spreadsheet: > for a 34 cols and 70 rows file it takes between 45 ./. 60 seconds to > open (about 40 sec for 'loading doc', the rest for 'calculating' and > 'adjusting row/col width'. > To a certain extend this may depend from the modest CPU clock speed of > my desktop (434 MHz), although it went much quicker with Lotus > Millennium under win$, AFAICR ...;( > Wondering if there are any tips&tricks to better things. > Regards, > Ennio. > > -- > [Perche' usare Win$ozz (dico io) se ..."anche uno sciocco sa farlo. \\?// > Fa' qualche cosa di cui non sei capace!"
