I'll be the first to advise the existing methods for the 1.1.?
versions of OOo of hiding paragraphs is a little tricky.

The best thing is that with the Version 2.0 beta's it is alot easier.
The hidden ability is part of the character style. Accordingly you
create a new character style, select 'hidden' from "font effects" tab.
Apply the character style to text and it'll be hidden.

Apologies for not assisting with the question if your using version 1 of OOo.
