Turns out that the "Tools > Options > Language Settings > Languages >
Default Languages for Documents > Western" was set to "none". I
changed it to "English (USA)" and all worked well in NeoOffice/J.
However, when I cut and pasted the text into Word, Word still could
not get the misspelled words.
