Kerri, I will guess you see placeholders where the graphics are supposed to be located. So, chances are that the graphics are not where the document thinks they are. In most rtf imports the graphics are linked. You can check the links by going to Edit > Links and examining the links then hunting down the graphics. Once you find them and they display, use Edit > Links again to embed them.
