You don't specify what version you are using. The following is based on
the Beta2 (1.9.125) release because that is what I have running right
now. IIRC its the same for the 1.1.x releases.
You might confirm that you have Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org Writer
> View > Display Graphics and Objects enabled. This setting is enabled
by default, but you may have inadvertently changed it at some point.
