Folks, The old line, "on the internet, no-one can tell that you are a dog", seems appropriate here.
I find only two reasonable hypothesis: Ether Dennis is a troll (social instigator for malicious fun) or a self-important junior engineer, not a policy-making management type out of Dilbert. (really: pedantic complaints about version numbers and no recognition that file associations exist?) On the other hand, there is always the GFT (greater fool theory), that supposes that almost anything is possible. Maybe the line should have been, "on the internet everyone can tell when you are foolish" Maybe it is just proof that the patience and politeness of this support community is outstanding.
