Further to my enquiry below (to which, so far I haven't seen any comments) -
this error message seems to keep popping up at other odd times. I have now
reverted to OO 1.9.115 but the message still comes up. As I said before. it
doesn't cause any real problem, and I can get rid of it with a couple of
clicks, but it seems very odd - and it only seems to have started when I
introduced OO 2.0 to my machine!

I have just downloaded above and have encountered a small problem.
On opening some files I get an error message:
X Error Loading BASIC of document file
///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/John%20Barman/Application%20Data/OpenOffice.org2/user/basic/standard/script.xlb/:
General Error
General input/output error
If I click the OK on the message a couple of times, the file opens with, as far
as I can tell, no further problem. Is anybody else experiencing the same thing?
I think the files are mainly spreadsheets, and it doesn't always happen.

I get similar problem, and as with John, a couple of clicks chases it
away without any apparent effect on the work I am doing. I first had it
occur actually during installation, and now it happens at seemingly
random times.
In my case, the message is:
Error loading BASIC of document
file:///usr/lib/OpenOffice.org1.1.4/share/basic/WebWizard/script.xlb/General
Error
General Input/Output error
-but I do not have 1.1.4 in usr/lib, as I had upgraded to 1.1.5 and
deleted 1.1.4 before I got 2.0, and 1.1.5 is the version that is now in
usr/lib, with a 1.1.5 link directory also. (I still have 1.1.4 in
another directory- will the problem go away if I delete it from the
computer altogether?)
Why is it looking for this file anyway? 2.0 stores its own script.xlb in
/opt/openoffice.org2.0/share/basic/FormWizard
I've opened it, but can't really see what it does - I'm not a
programmer, as you will have gathered.
Thanks for the link to a possible solution. But I didn't find it really
helped me.
I am running the Linux version of OOo on PCLinuxOS
