The language/country codes are part of an ISO standard which designates
the English of Great Britain as en-UK.

I'm somewhat puzzled by the question.
I always though Great Britain and United Kingdom mean actually the
very same. Thus the question did surprise me a lot.

Technically there is no en-GB in OpenOffice as language.
The UI uses "English (UK)" and the locale representing this
entry is en-UK.
