If you change the .sam extension to .txt Open office will try to open
those files and might give you the text.
Thanks

Regarding Word Processor portion of Open Office
I have been using the Open Office application for about 4-5 years
now, and I am
exceedingly pleased with it. When my MSWord application blew up OO
saved me from
ruin.
I have a trivial question that I cannot find an answer for.
Several decades ago, my company Hewlett Packard used the Amipro for
word processing,
and some of my saved memos are in .sam format. I have not been able
to find how to
open .sam files in Open Office.
Is there a way? I know MSWord offers a way to "recover text from
any file" ability.
