I too am missing Java for O.O. had a look at URL you advised, could not find
JRE
or anything similar on http://java.sun.com. Perhaps JRE has a full name?

OOo generally works with some limitations but OOBase doesn't work at all
(database engine is written in Java). So, go to http://java.sun.com and
download JRE appropriate for your operating system.
