Have you created your own xml definitions and save the package? As to
the existing xslt files, I would treat them as stubs rather than
complete examples. I found this out when compiling Chapter 13 of 
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/OOo2.x/user_guide2_draft.pdf
