Peter, I think there is a problem with the images being linked rather than embedded. What I did was create a new file using only content.xml which opened nicely in OOo sans graphics and these mostly produced read errors and paths that should not have existed. I also noticed when I took apart DL.odt that there is DL.zip inside. How you got that there I do not know but would suggest that this file may be complicating troubleshooting.
