Windows XP SP2.

I created a rather large file with embedded pictures and saved it.

Now when I try to open it, OO hangs and I get a "Not Responding" in Task
Manager.

I opened the ODT file and deleted all of the pictures (reducing the size to
under 20K) but the only effect that had was to give me an error message about
missing pictures!

The file is on-line at <http://www.mccc.edu/pjh/OOo/DL.odt> If anyone can help
me out here, I'd be much obliged.

Thanks.
Peter,

I think there is a problem with the images being linked rather than
embedded. What I did was create a new file using only content.xml which
opened nicely in OOo
Are you saying that you extracted content.xml from the archive and simply
opened it with Writer?

No quite. What I did was to take empty odt and replaced the content.xml
with the one from the file DL.odt. Rebuilt a new odt and opened that.

Ahhh!

I uploaded it to <www.mccc.edu/pjh/OOo/DL_and_Inst.zip> Bigger than 600K.

Oops. there should be an "ell" after Inst and before the dot.

<www.mccc.edu/pjh/OOo/DL_and_Instl.zip>

I'll email it to you.
