As I indicated in my original email, I was trying to access the ODT
files in the Writer's Guide referred to by Dan Lewis at
http://oooauthors.org/en/authors/userguide2/published/copy_of_index_html
That is the OOoauthors web site, not OpenOffice.org.
The ODT files from the OOoAuthors web site will not download by left
clicking the link. They do not download as ZIPped files, either. They
do, however, download with a right-click and selecting "Save the link"
as Dan Lewis subsequently advised.
All is well, now.

Dan Lewis mentioned the Writer's Guide ...
to another user. For whatever reason, I can download,
open and save the PDF version of the various chapters, but I
cannot even download the ODT versions. I've found that to be
the case with other ODT files on the OOo website. Neither
Firefox nor Internet Explorer will download the ODT versions.
Is there a problem, or am I doing something wrong? (Using
Windows XP version 2.0.X of OOo)
There are no ODT versions of any chapters in the OOo 2.0 Writer's
Guide on the OpenOffice.org website, although there are other ODT
files there.
Do you mean you are unsuccessful at downloading ODT files from
the OOoAuthors website? It is set up to serve them properly, so
you should not have a problem there with either browser. If you
are having a problem at OOoAuthors, let us know and we'll try to
work out what's going on.
