Everything except Writer seems to run
perfectly. Writer will try to open, I will get the OpenOffice.org

one ruler! After that appears OO hangs ... sometimes I need to
reboot, sometimes I can shut the application. There are no error

That will depend on the answers to the previous questions. If they
all the same version of OOo on the same version of operating
system, on different PCs, then perhaps there is a hardware
(memory?) fault.
I would suspect a faulty download. Did you check the md5sum?
I had a similar problem once, discovered there was a bad copy on the
mirror I downloaded from, so fresh download didn't solve the problem.
