The OP is NOT subscribed to the mailing list. Thus sending any replies to her on the
list is:
1. A waste of time.
2. Fruitless.
We have found that posters can and will post from GMANE (all of the lists are
echoed there) and expect replies to be sent directly to them.
Thus, I was able to confirm through PM with the OP that the problem is
fixed in a newer release of OpenOffice and that the problem is specific
to her operating system and with the version of OpenOffice.org she is using
this functionality does not work.
And your KEEP THE MESSAGES ON THE LIST is also a massive waste of
bandwidth. Please stop.

James, I would disagree. The general consensus I hear is to reply to the
list and carbon copy the OP when they are not subscribed, with a
specified reply-to the list. This way the answer also goes into the
archives so it can be searched and found.
Also, if one of us starts helping someone and encounters a dead end that
they can't solve, then the rest of the list could have been keeping up
with the info and step in to help.
AFAIK, this is the preferred way of helping out users.
I also prefer messages to stay on the list.

Subject: Re: [users] Copy problem FROM Web browsers to OO
Please keep messages on the list. THis one almost disappeared in my Junk
filters.
I noted that you keep saying you use Ctrl-P and are expecting a paste.
This is not the shortcut to use. Please use Ctrl-V. I have found that
this often works regardless of menu options. I would also like you to
note that OOo does not handle Javascript very well and if the website
from which you are attempting to copy uses JS extensively you may
encounter problems.
If this is the case, why use your browser's capability to save the page
and then open the result in OOo.

Thanks, but unfortunately that's not an option either. If you have any
other ideas, please pass them along. Thank you!

Hello,
I just recently started using OO and found that I cannot cut and paste
text from a web browser into Open Office (but I can cut/paste from OO in
to a browser). Have you had this problem?
I've tried using both Firefox and Safari (I don't have IE). And I've
also tried all methods of copy/paste (keyboard commands, right clicking,
the file menu, etc.) Nothing works.
In OO, I have enabled the Modzilla plug-in and made sure that the
keyboard shortcuts in OO are the ones I am using (ex. Ctr+c for cut and
Ctr+p for paste).
I know this can be done, so it must be a setting in OO I'm overlooking.
And there's no info on this bug in the wiki on the OO website.
Thanks so much for any help you can offer!

Ctrl-C is for copying to the clipboard. I believe that you should be
using Ctrl-V to copy from the clipboard to OOo.
